How to Make an Easypaisa Account in 2026 (App, Biometric and Limits)

Open an Easypaisa account free with your CNIC in a few minutes, then complete the in-app finger scan to lift your limits from Rs 50,000 to Rs 200,000 a month.

To make an Easypaisa account, install the easypaisa app, enter your mobile number, your CNIC number and its issue date, confirm the OTP and set a 5-digit PIN. It is free, takes a few minutes, and needs only a valid CNIC and a SIM. A new account starts at a lower level (Rs 25,000 a day, Rs 50,000 a month under SBP rules) until you complete biometric verification in the app.

What changed in 2025 and 2026

Easypaisa is no longer run by a microfinance bank. In January 2025 the State Bank of Pakistan gave Telenor Microfinance Bank approval to operate commercially as Pakistan’s first digital retail bank, and it now trades as easypaisa digital bank, registered as easypaisa Bank Limited. Telenor Group owns 55% and Ant Group 45%, according to ProPakistani.

For you, the sign-up steps are the same. Your account is a bank-regulated wallet, and limits still follow SBP’s branchless banking levels until you verify.

Easypaisa account requirements

According to the easypaisa FAQs:

  • A valid CNIC. An expired CNIC is not accepted, so renew it with NADRA first.
  • A mobile number. Any network works; the app sign-up sends an OTP to it.
  • One account per CNIC. You cannot open a second easypaisa mobile account on the same card.
  • No fee. Opening is free (the bank’s schedule of charges lists new mobile account opening at Rs 0).

Passports, B-forms and foreign IDs are not accepted for a normal account. Children cannot open one on a B-form.

How to make an Easypaisa account in the app

  1. Download the easypaisa app from Google Play or the Apple App Store. Check that the publisher is easypaisa before you install.
  2. Open the app and enter your mobile number.
  3. Enter your 13-digit CNIC number and the CNIC issue date exactly as printed on the card.
  4. Let the OTP fill in automatically, or type it from the SMS.
  5. Accept the terms and conditions.
  6. Create a 5-digit PIN. Do not use your birth year or 12345.

Your account is ready once the app opens to the home screen. NADRA checks your CNIC details in the background, which is why the issue date must match.

Without a smartphone: USSD sign-up

On a basic phone, dial *786# from a Telenor SIM or *2262# from other networks and follow the menu, as listed in the easypaisa FAQs. You get the same account, but upgrading and app features are easier on a smartphone.

Easypaisa account limit by level

Your daily and monthly limits depend on your account level. Easypaisa’s FAQ says limits “change with your account level” but does not publish the figures. The rules come from the SBP Branchless Banking Regulations (BPRD Circular 10 of 2019), which set these limits:

LevelHow you get itDaily limitMonthly limitYearly limitMaximum balance
Level 0CNIC checked with NADRA at sign-up, no biometricRs 25,000Rs 50,000Rs 200,000Rs 200,000
Level 1Biometric verification with NADRARs 50,000Rs 200,000Not set in the regulationNot set in the regulation

Two rules matter more than the numbers. First, SBP counts sending and receiving separately. Second, a Level 0 account cannot send money to another person, cash in or cash out until biometric verification is done. That is why many new users see “limit” errors on their first transfer.

The live limit for your own account is always shown in the app under your profile and Account Level. Banks can set lower internal limits, and SBP can revise these figures, so trust the app if it differs from this table.

Asaan Digital Account and bank accounts

Older guides, including the previous version of this page, mention an “Asaan digital account” level with a Rs 1 million limit. The easypaisa FAQ no longer mentions it, and we could not confirm those figures from an official source, so we have removed them. If you need limits above Level 1 (for freelancing income, for example), ask easypaisa Bank about a full-KYC savings account from the app’s “Create Savings Account” option, or use a commercial bank account.

Biometric verification: how to upgrade your Easypaisa account

Easypaisa now lets you verify inside the app using your phone’s camera to scan your fingers. The steps from the FAQ:

  1. Open the app and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Account Level, then Upgrade your Account.
  3. Scan your left hand and then your right hand when asked. Use good light and clean, dry fingers.
  4. Fill in the details the app asks for and tap Upgrade.

If the scan fails repeatedly, visit an easypaisa retailer or franchise with your original CNIC for thumb-scanner verification. Older fingerprints that do not match NADRA’s record can also fail; in that case update your fingerprints at a NADRA centre first.

Easypaisa fees you should know

The easypaisa Bank Schedule of Bank Charges (the January to March 2026 edition was the latest we could open) lists these key charges:

ServiceCharge
Opening a mobile accountRs 0
Transfer to other banks (IBFT), under Rs 25,000Rs 1.55 per transaction
IBFT, Rs 25,000 to Rs 200,0000.02% of the amount
IBFT, above Rs 200,000Rs 40 per transaction
Cash withdrawal from any ATM with an easypaisa cardRs 35 (free at easypaisa Bank ATMs)
Cash withdrawal from account, Rs 1,001 to 2,500Rs 40
Cash withdrawal from account, Rs 8,001 to 10,000Rs 180
Cash withdrawal from account, Rs 40,001 to 50,000Rs 690
Debit card: Visa / PayPak / UnionPay / Visa OnlineRs 1,000 / Rs 1,000 / Rs 999 / Rs 500

Cash withdrawal is the expensive part. If you are paid into easypaisa, it is often cheaper to send the money to your bank account by IBFT and withdraw from your bank’s ATM.

Receiving money from abroad and freelancing

An easypaisa account can receive home remittances from other countries, but the FAQ says it cannot make international payments and can be used only in Pakistan. Freelancers often move Payoneer earnings to the wallet; our step-by-step guide on Payoneer to JazzCash or Easypaisa covers that route. Remember that a Level 0 account’s Rs 50,000 monthly limit fills quickly, so verify before your first payout.

Safety tips

  • Easypaisa staff never ask for your PIN or OTP. Anyone who asks on a call or WhatsApp is a fraudster.
  • Check which SIMs are registered on your CNIC. An unknown SIM can be used to open a wallet in your name; our guide to checking SIMs on your CNIC shows how.
  • Turn on fingerprint or face login in the app and never hand over your phone while it is open.
  • Ignore “prize” or “BISP” messages that ask you to send a code or money.

Common problems and fixes

  • “CNIC issue date incorrect”: enter the date of issue, not expiry, in the exact format the app shows.
  • “Account already exists”: your CNIC already has an easypaisa account, possibly on an old SIM. Call the easypaisa helpline to recover or close it.
  • Cannot send money: you are still on Level 0. Complete biometric verification.
  • Expired CNIC: renew it with NADRA; the account cannot be opened or upgraded on an expired card.
