You can apply for a B-Form (Child Registration Certificate) online through NADRA’s Pak-ID app. The fee is Rs 50 for normal processing (7 days) or Rs 500 for executive processing (1 day), plus Rs 165 for delivery within Pakistan. You need the child’s computerised birth certificate from the Union Council and a parent’s valid CNIC or NICOP.
Children aged 3 and above must have a photo and iris scan on the new B-Form, and children over 10 also give fingerprints. If the app cannot capture these, NADRA will ask you to visit a NADRA Registration Centre (NRC) with the child.

What is a B-Form?
A B-Form is NADRA’s Child Registration Certificate (CRC). It is the first record of a child in NADRA’s database and proves the child’s identity and relationship with the parents. NADRA issues it to Pakistani children under 18.
You need a valid B-Form to apply for a child’s Pakistani passport. Schools and exam boards also commonly ask for it. When the child turns 18, they apply for a CNIC instead.
New B-Form rules in 2026: one B-Form for each age group
NADRA now issues the B-Form in three stages. Each one expires when the child reaches the next age bracket, so you must renew it at 3, 10 and 18.
| Child’s age | What the B-Form includes | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| Birth to 3 years | No biometrics. A photo is needed only if the B-Form is for a passport. | At age 3 |
| 3 to 10 years | Photograph and iris scan | At age 10 |
| 10 to 18 years | Photograph, fingerprints and iris scan | At age 18 |

Important: some older guides say you can apply online only for a child up to one year old. That was the 2025 rule. NADRA’s current page lists Pak-ID as an option for every CRC application, with a centre visit if a photo or biometrics are needed. For ages 10 to 18, the old B-Form without a photo and fingerprints is no longer accepted for passports.
Who can apply for a B-Form?
- Either parent can apply. Both parents do not have to be present.
- A legal guardian can apply with a guardianship certificate.
- Overseas Pakistani parents can apply through Pak-ID, a NADRA Registration Centre abroad or a Pakistani embassy or consulate.
- Children born abroad can get a B-Form with an S-1 form or the foreign birth certificate.
The child’s birth must be registered with the Union Council, Cantonment Board or CDA first. NADRA will not issue a B-Form without it, so register the birth within the first month if you can.
Documents required for a B-Form
| Document | Who needs it |
|---|---|
| Child’s computerised birth certificate from the Union Council, Municipal Committee or Cantonment Board | Children born in Pakistan |
| Detailed Birth Certificate or S-1 form | Children born abroad |
| Valid CNIC or NICOP of the applying parent | Every application |
| Guardianship certificate | If a guardian, not a parent, is applying |
| The child in person | Children above 3, and children under 3 if the B-Form is for a passport |
Make sure the parents’ details, including marital status, are up to date in NADRA’s records. An outdated record is a common reason for delays.
How to apply for a B-Form online through Pak-ID
- Download the official Pak-ID app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Check that the publisher is NADRA before entering any details.
- Create your account or sign in. New accounts are activated with fingerprint or face (selfie) verification of the parent.
- Start a new application and choose the Child Registration Certificate (CRC) / B-Form option.
- Enter the parent’s 13-digit CNIC and check the details the app fills in from NADRA’s records.
- Enter the child’s details exactly as they appear on the birth certificate: name, date of birth, place of birth and gender.
- Upload the documents the app asks for, usually a clear photo of the birth certificate. For children aged 3 and above, the app asks for the child’s photo.
- Choose the processing priority (normal or executive) and the delivery address.
- Pay the fee in the app. The timeline starts only after payment.
- Verify with the parent’s fingerprint if the app asks, then submit.
- Track the application in Pak-ID. If NADRA needs the child’s photo, iris scan or fingerprints, the app will tell you to visit a NADRA Registration Centre.
Menu names in Pak-ID can change after app updates. If you cannot find the CRC option, look under new identity documents or contact the NADRA helpline.

Pay only through Pak-ID or at a NADRA centre. Any extra amount an agent charges is the agent’s own fee, not NADRA’s.
How to apply at a NADRA Registration Centre
If you prefer to apply in person, or Pak-ID sends you to a centre:
- Take the child (required for ages 3 and above), the original birth certificate and your original CNIC.
- Get a token and wait for your turn at the counter.
- NADRA staff take the child’s photo, iris scan and fingerprints (for ages 10 and above).
- Check the printed details on the review form carefully before you sign it.
- Pay the fee and keep the receipt with the tracking ID.
NADRA is still rolling out iris scanners across its centres, starting with Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. Call the helpline before you go to confirm your nearest centre can capture the child’s iris.
How to renew a B-Form at age 3, 10 or 18
Every B-Form expires at age 3 and 10. To renew, use the “Renew” option in Pak-ID or visit a NADRA centre. You need the old B-Form or juvenile card number. The renewed B-Form will include the photo and biometrics for the child’s new age group, so plan a centre visit if the app cannot capture them.
At 18, the B-Form stops being valid. The young person then applies for a CNIC.
B-Form or Juvenile Card: which one do you need?
Both are NADRA identity documents for children under 18. The B-Form (CRC) is a certificate. The Juvenile Card is a card with the child’s photo and iris data (and fingerprints from age 10). A child needs a CRC record before getting a Juvenile Card. For most needs, including a passport, either one works.
Common mistakes that delay a B-Form
- Date of birth mismatch. If the birth certificate and NADRA’s record differ, correct the birth certificate at the Union Council first.
- Unregistered birth. NADRA cannot issue a B-Form until the birth is registered.
- Parents’ records out of date. Update marital status or other details in your own CNIC record first.
- Blurry uploads. Take the birth certificate photo in daylight, flat and with all four corners visible.
- Using an old B-Form for a passport. Children aged 10 to 18 need the new B-Form with photo and fingerprints.
If you also need a family certificate, see our guide to the NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC).
