Pakistanis need a visa for Malaysia, and the usual route for a Malaysian visa from Pakistan is the official eVisa at malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my. The government visa fee for Pakistani citizens is RM 20, and the eVisa portal adds a processing fee that Pakistani media have reported at about RM 105 plus service charges, paid online by card. Decisions usually come within a few working days, and you must also file the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) before you land.

Malaysian visa from Pakistan: who needs it
The Immigration Department of Malaysia (Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia, JIM) lists Pakistan among the countries whose citizens must apply for a visa. There is no visa-free entry or visa on arrival for Pakistani ordinary passports, and the eNTRI quick-registration scheme is limited to Indian and Chinese nationals.
The same JIM page sends visitors to the eVISA portal and says help is available through its live chat, 24 hours a day. For applications handled through Malaysia’s missions in Pakistan, the Karachi consulate’s FAQ points applicants to its list of approved visa service providers. For a normal holiday, the eVisa is simpler.
Use only the official Malaysia eVisa portal
Search results for “Malaysia evisa for Pakistani” are full of look-alike sites with Malaysian flags and “official” in the name. Unofficial sites can charge far more than the government fee, and you hand your passport scan to a company you know nothing about.
- The official eVisa portal is malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my. The address ends in .gov.my.
- The official arrival card is at imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main.
- In January 2025 JIM publicly warned tourists about a fake MDAC website, as Bernama reported, and told them to use only the official link.
If a site asks you to pay in rupees through a bank transfer, a JazzCash number or a personal account, it is not the Malaysian government.
Malaysia eVisa fee for Pakistani applicants
| Charge | Amount | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Visa fee (single or multiple entry) | RM 20 | JIM visa fees table, Pakistan row |
| eVisa processing fee | About RM 105, plus service charges | ARY News, February 2025 (confirm on the portal) |
| MDAC arrival card | Free | Official MDAC site |
The RM 20 fee is on the government’s own table. The processing fee is charged by the eVisa system at checkout, and we could not open the payment page on 19 October 2026 to confirm the current figure, so check the total on screen before paying. Your bank will also convert ringgit to rupees and may add its foreign transaction charges; a card that works internationally is needed.
Malaysian visit visa from Pakistan: documents
The eVisa asks for scans, not originals. Prepare these as clear colour files:
- Passport with at least six months of validity, and a scan of the biodata page.
- Recent passport-size photo on a plain background, matching the portal’s size rules.
- Return or onward flight booking.
- Hotel booking for your stay, or the address and invitation of your host.
- Proof of funds for the trip, such as a recent bank statement.
- Any document the portal requests for your situation, such as a letter from your employer or, for children, a birth certificate or NADRA B-Form.
This list matches what ARY News has reported for Pakistani eVisa applicants. The portal is the final word, because it shows the required uploads for your visa type before you pay.
Malaysia evisa for Pakistani travellers: step by step
- Open malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my and register with your email (“New applicant”).
- Choose the visit or tourist eVisa and Pakistan as your nationality.
- Enter passport and travel details exactly as in your passport.
- Upload the photo and documents listed above.
- Pay the visa and processing fees online by card. Keep the receipt.
- Track the status in your account. When approved, download and print the eVisa.
- Within the days before your flight, file the MDAC (see below).
Processing time and validity
Pakistani news reports put eVisa processing at about one to three working days, but delays happen around holidays and when documents are unclear. Apply at least two weeks before your flight and do not buy non-refundable tickets until it is approved.
According to ARY News, the tourist eVisa is valid for entry within a set period after approval and allows a stay of up to 30 days. Your printed eVisa shows the exact validity and stay; follow that, not a blog post.
MDAC: Malaysia Digital Arrival Card
Since 1 January 2024, most foreign visitors must complete the MDAC online before arriving in Malaysia. Pakistani travellers are included. File it on the official site, imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main, in the days just before your flight; the form opens a short window before your arrival date and is free. Keep the confirmation you receive handy for the immigration counter.
Malaysia vs Thailand visa for Pakistanis
Many Pakistani travellers combine Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok in one trip. The two visas work differently, so plan them in the right order.
| Malaysia eVisa | Thailand e-Visa | |
|---|---|---|
| Official portal | malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my | thaievisa.go.th |
| Government fee | RM 20 plus processing fee | Rs 13,000 single entry (embassy fee sheet) |
| How you pay | Online by card | Cash at the Thai embassy or consulate |
| Typical time | A few working days | About 14 working days after payment |
| Arrival card | MDAC, free | TDAC, free |
Because the Thai visa takes longer, apply for it first and the Malaysian eVisa a couple of weeks before the trip. Make sure your hotel bookings and flight reservations for both countries tell the same story with the same dates.
What to do if your eVisa is rejected or stuck
If the status stays “pending” well beyond a week, use the live chat on the eVisa portal, which JIM says runs around the clock, and quote your application number. Do not submit a second paid application while the first is still open.
If it is rejected, read the reason in your account. Most refusals come down to an unclear photo, a passport scan with glare, or bookings that do not match the dates entered. Fix the document and apply again; fees already paid are generally not refunded. If you are refused more than once, apply through Malaysia’s mission in Pakistan or its approved service provider so a person can review your file.
Common mistakes
- Paying an agent site that copies the government portal’s look.
- Uploading a blurry passport scan or a selfie as the photo.
- Booking a flight before approval.
- Forgetting the MDAC and filling it in a queue at KLIA with a weak signal.
- Overstaying the stay printed on the eVisa, which leads to fines and future refusals.
